Hours later, Namath expressed his excitement about the hiring on social media.
“I hope all @nyjets fans are as excited as my family and I that Aaron Glenn is our new head coach,” Namath wrote on X. “Hopefully the season starts next week!”
Namath, 81, played for the Jets from 1965 to 1976 and was crowned Super Bowl champion in 1969. New York defeated the Baltimore Colts, 16-7 to win the title.
