Manchester City have increased their firepower by announcing the £63m signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

Marmoush, 25, signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until June 2029.

Pep Guardiola wanted another striker after City sold Julián Álvarez during the summer and Marmoush, who has scored 20 goals in 26 games this season, arrives with an exciting reputation.

He becomes City's third signing in the January window after centre-backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, taking their spending to £125m.

'This is a day I will never forget. Signing for Manchester City, one of the best teams in the world, is an incredible feeling. “I'm delighted, my family is very proud and we are all very happy to be here in Manchester,” said Marmoush.

“With Pep, his coaching staff and the top-notch facilities here, the players have everything they need to improve. It was really attractive to me when I had the opportunity to come here.

'And I can't deny that I also want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for many, many years, so I know I am joining a winning environment and culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates, and I want to become a valued member of this winning team.

“I'm looking forward to getting going, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”

Mail Sport exclusively revealed City's interest in the Egyptian international last month. He was the second top scorer in the Bundesliga behind Harry Kane.

His impressive form this campaign builds on a strong 2023-24 season, in which he scored 17 goals in 41 games.

Director of football Txiki Begiristain added: “Omar is an accomplished and exciting striker and I am delighted to have him join us.

“He has had an exceptional season and every time we have seen him, he has influenced the games.

'He has all the attributes that a top-level attacker requires. He has exceptional pace and awareness, and is exceptional in front of goal. He can also play several different positions, which is a really valuable asset.

“I also have no doubt that working with Pep and the coaching staff here at City will allow him to further develop his magnificent attacking talent.”
