Ange Postecoglou has admitted that Tottenham's 2-1 defeat to Leicester “hurts a lot”.
Despite taking the lead through Richarlison, Spurs ended up being defeated, with Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss scoring second-half goals for Leicester.
Postecoglou's team languishes in 15th place in the Premier League standings and has already suffered 13 league defeats this season.
The 59-year-old coach, despite the team's poor run of results, backed his players and insisted that “things just didn't go our way today.”
'Yes, it hurts. It hurts a lot. The players gave their all again,” Postecoglou told Premier League Productions. “We are going to analyze a lot of things, but in terms of effort I can't ask more from this group, things just didn't go the way we wanted today.”
“We created some good chances and unfortunately things didn't go our way because the players didn't try and that's the main thing.”

“The players are giving everything they can. That's all we can ask for as a football club and I as a coach. They're doing everything they can and that's all anyone can ask for.
“You can analyze the goals, they were disappointing goals for us, but I thought we had enough opportunities in the game to come out victorious.
Postecoglou insists Tottenham have “not hit their ceiling” and the rot will end once key players return from injuries.
“When you are in this situation, they try as hard as they can and sometimes that doesn't give you clarity in your decision making,” added the Australian.
“What you can ask is for people to do everything they can and from my perspective I see a group of players who are giving everything they can.” I know it will change.
“We will get some players back, we were missing again today, but in the next few weeks some really important players will return who I know will help this group.”
'We haven't hit the ceiling. We've been like this for two months. They put in a great performance on Thursday to make sure we were good in Europe and they had to back that up today, but there were probably at least two or three players who weren't 100%.
“I'm a football coach and I'm judged by results, that's the way of the world.”
Postecoglou will be eager for his team to win again in their next league match at Brentford.
Despite their difficulties, Tottenham are still eight points clear of the relegation zone.
