Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan was in London on Sunday night ahead of talks with Arsenal.

The 18-year-old Norwegian was with his family and agent Rafaela Pimenta at Erling Haaland's box to watch Manchester City beat Chelsea on Saturday.

City sister club Girona also want Nypan, while Arsenal continue to explore options to add a striker this week.

The midfielder, who plays for Rosenborg in the Norwegian First Division, is currently weighing up his options.

The Gunners are keen to recruit emerging global talent, while their short-term injury crisis has also given them fresh impetus to buy depth in the January transfer window.

Nypan would be Arsenal's first signing under their interim sporting director, Jason Ayto, who succeeded Edu Gaspar after his departure last November.

In the past, Nypan has admitted that his dream would be to play in Manchester, only in the red of Man United, rather than the sky blue of the city.

Before Rosenborg faced the Red Devils in a friendly last summer, he admitted that he would love to play for the 20-time English champions, but then on the line.

“It would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United,” he told the United Norway podcast.

'I am aware that United have shown some interest. But I'm pretty adamant that I don't want to open that door yet.

“I want to concentrate on Rosenborg and not think too much about the future.”

However, things seemed to have changed for the highly-rated talent, with a host of elite clubs now vying for his signature.

Nypan made 24 appearances last season, scoring nine goals and registering five assists for Rosenborg's first team.

In his 60 senior appearances, he has recorded an impressive 24 goal involvements as an attacking midfielder, including 13 goals and 11 assists.

The teenager made his debut for Rosenborg on November 6, 2022, starting in a league match against Jerv.
