Crystal Palace defender Chadi Riad has suffered a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury which puts Oliver Glasner's defensive options in crisis.
Eagles boss Glasner revealed on Friday that the centre-back was unavailable for the weekend defeat to Brentford due to the problem.
And Mail Sport has learned that the 21-year-old will miss a long period due to a serious knee injury.
The news comes as a blow to Palace after Chelsea made the decision earlier this month to withdraw Trevoh Chalobah from his season-long loan deal at Selhurst Park following the injury suffered by Wesley Fofana.
Given that Glasner plays with three centre-backs, the injury suffered by Riad poses a big problem for the Eagles coach.
Marc Guehi, Maxence Lacroix and Chris Richards are the club's only recognized centre-backs who are currently fit.

Riad has only appeared in three games for Palace this season due to persistent injury problems.
Palace now look likely to enter the market for new centre-backs before the transfer window closes.
Concerns are also emerging that midfielder Cheick Doucoure also faces a long spell on the sidelines with a knee problem.
Revealing that Riad had suffered an injury last week, Glasner also revealed that Doucoure was also suffering from a knee ailment.
