Motherwell's manager Stuart Kettlewell resigned after supporters' abuse forced his family to stay away from the matches.
The Park Club firm currently feels fifth in the Premier League, but some fans had turned against Kettlewell, particularly following the defeat of the Scottish Cup of St Johnstone on January 18.
After another defeat in Perth on Saturday, this time in the League, the former Ross County manager decided that he had enough.
Motherwell confirmed that his board of directors had accepted “very reluctantly” the resignation of the 40 -year -old.
A statement added: 'Stuart approached Executive President Brian Caldwell on Monday morning to explain why he wanted to resign. Stuart explained that part of personal abuse was now affecting his family, to the point that they did not want to attend the games.
“As a result, he felt that it would be better if he presented his resignation.”

Caldwell said: 'It is really sad that Stuart has felt that it was the right time to move forward. It had an exceptional record and has generated an impressive amount of transfer by transfer for the club.
'It has been a critical factor in the development of the graduates of the Motherwell Academy, as well as in the development of young loan players during their mandate.
'When Stuart approached me, I was very disappointed to know the effect that this was having on his family and how he felt. No manager, player or employee of the club, each of which gives everything for the club, should feel like that.
'Therefore, we had no choice but to accept his resignation in the best interest of Stuart and his family. As a fans -owned football club, promoted by the community, we will always take care of ours.
The statement continued: 'The club wishes to thank Stuart for his hard work and total dedication during his time in the club. We wish him already his family the best for the future.
The assistant of the manager Stephen Frail will take charge of the visit of Celtic Sunday, assisted by Jon Obika and Richard Foster.
