- The sternum lesion stopped NRL race from Campbell Graham
- Lost the entire 2024 season, Rabbitohs finished 16th
- The sternum bone had died, now fighting in the form
- Probably caused by the amount of pain injections in 2023
NRL Campbell Graham star has revealed that “he feels like a football player again” after being forced to rebuild his mistreated body after a serious sternum injury.
The Rabbitohs Center, 25, has not played since Round 27 of 2023.
That season Graham required 29 injections of pain of pain to present in 21 games, and although he ended by the player of the year of South Sydney, the winner of the World Cup with the kangaroos felt that something was not right.
A wrestling session at the beginning of last year confirmed Graham's worst fears.
The specialists reported 'stretch', the high volume of pain injections that it took in 2023 was the probable reason for an infection that caused part of its sternum to die.
“They removed the dead bone from my sternum, took a bone graft of my left hip, then placed the fresh bone in the sternum and covered it with a couple of plates,” Graham told the Sydney Morning Herald.

After more than 500 days on the sidelines, the Rabbitohs star is on its way to returning in the first round this season against the Dolphins (in the photo, in the grand finale of 2021 NRL versus the panthers)
'There was no plan in terms of when I could return.
“I hoped to be around around 16, but it depended on the surgeon, and he told me when I could run and when I could do weights.”
With the Rabbitoh finishing a sad 16, it was decided in the middle of the campaign that Graham would not appear in 2024.
Now, more than 500 days since its last appearance, Graham is the most suitable in years, and in a revealing way, analgesics remain in the Rabbitohs HQ closet in Maroubra.
“I've been making complete contact since November, and I feel like a football player again,” said Graham.
'I stopped (after a training session) and in a fun way, I never realized that I would miss that. Only with that contact, you don't realize how good it is to have the collision '.
It comes like Wayne Bennett has returned to the club for a second period to the helm after Jason Demetriou was fired.
And after a 2024 nightmare for Latrell Mitchell, both inside and outside the field, the fullback is pursuing redemption when grabbing a steeden.
“Trell is moving the best I have seen in a preseason,” said Graham.
“He also leads the best I have seen, with his talk and energy, which is exactly what we need this year.”
South Sydney opens its 2025 NRL campaign with a crash outside the Dolphins, the former Bennett team, at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on March 7.
