Steve Smith will take the reins of Pat Cummins captaincy this week, but has made a disturbing aptitude claim on his own aptitude, revealing that he hopes that his teammates can cover it in the field.
Australia faces Sri Lanka in the opening test of his three -game series in Galle on Wednesday and the substitute captain revealed that he has not yet “thrown a ball” in training while fighting an injury in the elbow.
The good news is that Smith has been hitting on the Nets and hopes to play on Wednesday in the first test, after Scans cleared the New South South Gales batter 35 years of serious problems.
But talking to journalists in Sri Lanka on Tuesday, the Australian Cricket player admitted: 'I am not throwing yet.
'That is something we will probably build in the next little one.
'I have not yet thrown a ball, but fortunately, in this part of the world, I will probably be parked in the slippages throughout the time.

The good news is that Smith is still waiting for the opening game and has been in the batting of the networks comfortably after recovering from an elbow injury.
Smith joked by saying that he would have to trust some of his teammates to help him.
“If I have to chase one to the limit, hopefully, one of my colleagues comes with me.”
The 35 -year -old Smith photos, with an orthopedic device in the elbow they had become viral in recent weeks and expressed concern about whether he could lead the lazy greens during this summer's tour to the subcontinent.
New South Wales' batter had feared that he had aggravated the ligament injury he suffered in 2019. Smith had undergone surgery on that subject and was forced to sit down for a long period. 'Fortunately, everything was mainly muscle and settled quite fast. In fact, I am batting without a tape, so it is much better than expected.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Australian said that fans can expect some changes on the side of the test that defeated India in the final match of the Border-Gavaskar series in the Sydney Crick Ground earlier earlier this month.
Smith confirmed that Sam Konstas would be at the top of the batting order of Australia for Travis Head, who must open the batting with Usman Khawaja.
However, Konstas still has the opportunity to claim a medium order place, unemployed by the head, but will compete for that place with Nathan McSweeney, Cooper Connolly and Josh Inglis.
Smith, meanwhile, is thinking of joining an illustrious Australian batters club outside his mind before the three -game series.
