Capital One Arena silenced on Thursday night when the Wizards and Lakers paid tribute to the victims of the tragic plane crash in Washington DC.
An American Airlines passenger plane that transported 64 people crashed into a military helicopter while trying to land at the Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night.
Both planes immersed themselves in the ice cream Potomac River, and officials say that the 67 people on board are dead.
Before the first game at the Wizards house since the tragedy, the two teams maintained a moment of silence before the notice.
During the tribute, a message appeared on large screens in Capital One Arena.
“We are deeply sad for the tragedy near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport last night,” he said.

'Our thoughts and prayers are with victims and their loved ones. We extend our deepest gratitude to the heroic lifeguards who helped in the rescue and recovery mission.
The commanders also offered a Sincere statement. “We join the entire DMV to cry the tremendous loss of life in the horrible accident last night on the Potomac River,” the team wrote.
'Our hearts are broken for passenger families and the crew of the 5342 flight of American Airlines and the crew of the army helicopter based in the Davison Army airfield that tragically perished in the accident. Our entire community cries with you.
'We thank the first responders who worked throughout the night to support the search and rescue effort. May God bless all victims.
Meanwhile, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, which has several teams, including Wizards and Capitals, saying They were “deeply sad” for what had happened.
