Manchester United's chief coach Ruben Amorim, believes that Kobbie Mainoo's long-term future can lie like a no 10 after he impressed, and scored, in his 2-0 victory over FCSB in Europe in Europe League last night.
United ended third in the group phase and sealed his place in the last 16 of the competition, avoiding a two-legged play-off draw in the process, after Diogo Dalot and Mainoo scored against the Romanian champions.
Mainoo, 19, began the game on an advanced role and stood out, after crossed so that Dalot scored and added United's second goal eight minutes later.
The Amorim system requires that the two narrow ones not support the solitary striker and Mainoo duly linked to Rasmus Hojlund with a good effect in Bucharest.
That has raised the possibility that Amorim now seeks to make him a midfielder with an attack mentality, especially since the head of United thinks that he has “fought” with his defensive duties when sent further back.
When putting the successful adjustment to spend more time with his players in the training field, Amorim said: 'having time to train, create connections between all, that is really, very important to us.

'Even staff, all there in training, knowing in the right environment, I think it's really important.
'Then you can have a week to prepare a game, so you can work at the beginning of the week, in your idea and still have time to concentrate on the opponent to prepare the game in a better way.
'I can better understand my players, and prepare Kobbie's position today.
'We need time to understand players. I was fighting a lot defending as a midfielder. Now more like a no 10, you can feel that it was so free, playing the ball near the box and near the box is really good, making the small connections.
“I need time and we need time to work with players to understand which is the best position for them.”
In particular, Mainoo created three opportunities and received nine touches in the FCSB penalty area, rather than in any Premier League game so far this season.
“In the second half, you can see the opponent to get tired, slower when they covered the space,” Amorim added.
'We had more space with players with Kobbie between lines. One against one of Amad (Diallo), and the rhythm of (Alejandro) Garnacho, helped a lot. We managed to write down two, we should write down more.

He also received nine touches inside the opponent's box, more than in any other league game
Earlier this month, Amorim insisted that he wants to keep Mainoo at the club, but admitted that the club can be forced to download his local talents.
United is open to allow Marcus Rashford to leave in the winter transfer window, while they would also entertain adequate offers for Mainoo and Garnacho.
He previously considered untouchable, but it is believed that his representatives reached a dead point with United on a new contract.
Any potential sale would be 100 percent gain in the balance sheet and Mail sport Revealed Chelsea would be at the front of the tail in case they put it on sale.
