New York Jets hires Tanner Engstrand as offensive coordinator as questions persist about the future of Aaron Rodgers

The Jets named Tanner Engstrand as their new offensive coordinator, a few days after New York hired his former colleague of the Detroit Lions, Aaron Glenn, as a chief coach.

Glenn and the new general manager Darren Mougey have had the task of supervising another era in the jets.

They are looking to rebuild a team that lost the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season, ending 5-12, despite having Aaron Rodgers in the center throughout the year.

Engstrand is scheduled to work with Rodgers, but the future of the 41 -year -old is uncertain to go to the 2025 season.

Engstrand and Glenn were part of Dan Campbell's coaching staff in Detroit, helping to transform the lions into one of the best NFL teams.

Engstrand joined as an offensive assistant before working as a closed wings coach and game coordinator.

His relationship with Mougey, meanwhile, dates back to 2004 when both were field marshal in the state of San Diego.

Rodgers' future is a fundamental question that the new main office must address while seeking to change the fortune of the jets.

The field marshal has caused retirement, and playing elsewhere, but Glenn refused to answer questions about whether he wants Rodgers under Center to advance.

“This is not about Aaron Rodgers, friends,” Glenn said on Monday, when he and Mougey spoke for the first time since he joined New York.

You will talk about Aaron Rodgers. We have sent a text message with our communication with Aaron Rodgers and (the decisions will be made) as we continue looking at the list, '' he continued.

'We are going to sit and talk and build the whole list … we are waiting for that process. I can't tell you how long that process will take … (but) we will get the correct answer.

He added: 'We plan to build the best list we can … All are under the microscope. That is exactly what it is. So we are going to do our best to make sure to build a better list. '
