The Aga Khan, a spiritual leader of the 15 million Ismaili Muslims of the world, has died at age 88.

The Ismaili community and the AGA Khan development network confirmed the news in public statements on Tuesday.

“With deep sadness, the Jamat is reported that our beloved 49th hereditary imam, Mawlana Shah Karim al-Hussaini, died peacefully to the grace of Allah Almighty on February 4, 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal, surrounded by her family,” said the Ismaili statement.
