Jakov Jelkic's body, who played for the Swiss team of the third Division FC Granges-Paccot, was found in the waters of Alicante on Monday.
Cristian Plaza, a spokesman for the National Police of Alicante, said that the images of the cameras reviewed by the police showed Jelkic staggering from a nightclub near the port, 'having ingested some type of alcoholic beverage.'
Mr. Plaza added: 'There were no signs of violence in the body, and since it was filmed walking towards the area, we assumed that it fell into the sea.
'The sea is cold at this time of year, and was alone.
'Research will continue since autopsy is only part of the process. We will analyze all the available information, but from what is known until now, it seems to be an accident '.
