Virgil Van Dijk left fans in stitches while cheating Richarlison during the semifinal clash of the Carabao Cup of Liverpool with Tottenham.
The two parties fought Thursday night for a place in Wembley to face Newcastle in the final of the competition, with the side of Eddie Howe going waiting to have noticed Arsenal.
The Reds entered the game following 1-0 after Lucas Bergvall's goal in the first leg, but the goals of Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah threw the tie in favor of Liverpool in the second half.
One of the key battles of the game was between Virgil Van Dijk and Richarlison, at least until the latter was injured late in the first half: Mathys Tel went to his debut as his replacement.
A few minutes from the game, Richarlison hit the deck after an apparent inadvertent elbow of Van Dijk, with a long VAR verification that finally awarded that there was no violent behavior.
But a moment later in the game, the Liverpool defender beat his rival at a time outside the ball that has been shared on social networks.
With Liverpool in the attack, Richarlison received approximately 30 yards from the goal, trying to keep it to win some respite for his team.
Van Dijk pressed High, committing his man, who hit the cover, with referee Craig Pawson giving a free kick to visitors.
After Van Dijk protested, the decision, naturally, stood up, and the Dutch defender took out his hand so that he apparently offered his hand to help the progress.
When Richarlison seemed to take the offer, putting his own hand, Van Dijk moved his hand away, leaving his opponent to get up when Van Dijk returned to his position.
Most fans saw the fun side of things on social networks, with a writing in X: 'van dijk's absolutely made richarlison', accompanied by three emojis that cry.
Another published: “This is the type of meanness with which I can relate.”
A third, meanwhile, wrote: “He gets that man a medal.”
