Rico Lewis has insisted that Manchester City is taking the FA Cup very seriously this season after overcoming Leyton Orient to reach the last 16.
Outside the EFL Cup and sitting 15 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League, the FA Cup seems the best hope of the city of serious cutlery in 2025.
But those hopes were tested in Brisbane Road on Saturday when City was losing 1-0 against the opposition of the League one in the part-time thanks to an impressive 45-yard strike by Jamie Donley, whose shooting found the network through the crossbar and then the back of Keeper Stefan Ortega.
City defended himself to win 2-1 courtesy of the strikes of the second half of Abdukodir Khusanov and Kevin de Bruyne.
Lewis then revealed that the administrator of the Pep Guardiola city had been relatively quiet in part time.
“PEP was not angry in part time,” Lewis told journalists. 'We just said: “Keep your head.” Orient credit made us very difficult to play.
'We all know that these games are very difficult to play, especially far. The crowd was up to it.
On whether the city's players doubted after being behind, Lewis added: 'I no doubt. At the end of the day, it is Man City and the standards are so high that we have enough leadership to take us to the end.
'Going a defense attack is very difficult because there is a lot of land to cover. This is trust, there is a doubt that if we lose the ball, we are a little more open. '
The city is now potentially to only four victories to win the FA Cup.
Lewis continued: 'I think the FA Cup is huge.
'The season has not overcome how we wanted. Now the transfer window is closed, it is a new season for us. I think everyone wants us to be defeated.
