This is the dramatic moment that Emma Raducanu stops her party in Dubai after detecting the “obsessed” man in the stands that left her crying and hidden on the court.
Today, Dubai police announced that he had arrested a “tourist” who “approached him, left him a note, took photographs and dedicated himself to a behavior that caused him anguish.”
The man in question has signed an effective restriction order to maintain the distance from it.
And the new images of the stands show Raducanu to see man watching his game on Tuesday. Later, a spectator seems to be escorted by security.
On Monday he approached Raducanu and a man at the Aviation Club tennis center on Monday.
The same man was later expelled from the stands during his second round on Tuesday.
Raducanu broke into tears towards the beginning of the game, approached the referee Miriam Bley and then hid behind the official's chair.
A WTA statement later revealed that Raducanu had seen someone who had “exhibited fixed behavior” on Monday.
I was sufficiently distressed by that incident to inform the safety on the site and WTA staff.
The man was arrested by the police and “signed a formal company to maintain the distance” of it.
Dubai authorities issued an update on Thursday. A statement said: 'Dubai authorities have taken quick measures to address an incident that involves the British tennis star Emma Raducanu, according to local legal protocols.
'After Raducanu's complaint, Dubai's police arrested a tourist who approached him, left him a note, took his photograph and dedicated himself to a behavior that caused his anguish during Dubai -free tennis championships.
'While Raducanu then decided to leave the positions, the individual signed a formal company to maintain her distance and has been expelled from future tournaments.
“Dubai remains committed to guaranteeing the safety of all residents and visitors of the Emirate.”
Tuesday's new images also emerged on Thursday.
It seemed to show the moment when Raducanu saw a man of the crowd.
Raducanu had just won a point to put 15-15 in the second game of the game. He was celebrating with a tight fist when he seemed to identify someone sitting on the poda behind her.
Then he walked towards them, shaking his head, before some unintelligible words were exchanged.
Shortly after, a male spectator dressed in a chaqui color and a baseball cap seemed to be escorted from his seat by a security personnel member.
However, this did not seem to be the same man as Raducanu had been making gestures and talking with moments before.
The game stopped briefly after Raducanu had lost the first two games against Karolina Muchva.
Once they resumed, the British lost the game 7-6 6-4.
