Carlton's First Round Draft selection, Jagga Smith, will miss the entire AFL season after Scans confirmed that he has broken an anterior cross ligament.
Smith had been sharp in the front average in his first senior success during the pre -season shock of the blues with ST KILDA in Ikon Park on Saturday.
The 19 -year -old flies the field with a knee injury during the third quarter, but could complete some races after the game in what was taken as a positive sign.
But the scanning on Sunday revealed the worst possible result for Smith, who was selected with the number 3 selection in the draft last year.
“It was certainly not the news we expected and we really felt for Jagga,” said Carlton's football manager Brad Lloyd.
'He has not set a bad foot at the time he entered the football club in November.

“While it is really unfortunate that we will not see Jagga out of the field this season, he will continue to absorb the greatest possible knowledge of his teammates and coaches during his first year in the AFL system, before attacking his second season in front.
Carlton's star midfielder, Sam Walsh (hamstrings) could be fit to play in the last pre -season success against GWS on Friday.
The blues start the house campaign and far against Richmond on March 13.
