- Sam Kerr exhibited support for Matildas Laini Freier debutant
- It comes when Matildas captain, 31, continues his recovery from ACL
- The former Chelsea coach Emma Hayes, supported Kerr to return with style
The Matildas missed Sam Kerr in their 2-1 defeat against the USWNT in the Shebelieves Cup, and if their Instagram story is a guide, it has no plans to renounce the captaincy in the short term.
Kerr, 31, shared an image that showed the debutant Laini Freier, who replaced Kyra Cooney-Cross at the end of the second half of Monday morning Aedt while the Tillies chased a draw in Arizona.
It is understood that Kerr, who was recently found not guilty of racial aggravated harassment of a United Kingdom police officer, was watching the action at home in London with his pregnant fiancee Kristie Mewis, who turns out to be American.
Kerr's publication included two emojis applauded by hand, while publicly showing his support for Freier, who plays to Brisbane Roar in the A-League female competition.
Together, the USWNT manager Emma Hayes, who previously trained Kerr in Chelsea, has no doubt that the goal machine can return at her best.
Kerr this weeks away from the Blues team sheet after more than a marginalized year after a LCA rupture.

Meanwhile, the USWNT manager Emma Hayes, who trained Kerr in Chelsea, undoubtedly has the goal machine that can return from her LCA injury and soon be at her best brilliant moment
“I love Sam Kerr, I will always love Sam Kerr, she's incredible,” said Hayes.
“I'm sure you will find another step to be the best Sam Kerr.”
Meanwhile, coach Tom Servmanni said he was encouraged by Matildas's response against the United States after he described his unfortunate performance against Japan 'Australian'.
He followed a 4-0 defeat where his team was sometimes without hope out of his depth.
“Our effort and attitude were much better in this game, especially after the beginning we had,” said Sermanni.
'Given the performance of the last game and the result … and then granting a goal after probably less than a minute, I think we could easily have yielded.
“Then, from a cavando team perspective, I was really satisfied with that part.”
The Matildas play their last game of the Shebelieves Tournament in California at 11.30 am AEDT on Thursday against Colombia.
Both nations will press for a victory after consecutive defeats.
