Long -lasting ESPN show to end in May after being brutally eliminated after 23 years in the air


The last episode of 'Around the Horn' will be broadcast on May 23, ending The ESPN Show after 23 years in the air.

The debate program, which sees four panelists try to win points, and avoid being silenced, has been a basic element for sport fans during the last two decades.

There have been almost 5,000 episodes of 'Around the Horn', but the program, which debuted in November 2002, will close at the end of this year.

Tony Reali has hosted 'Around the Horn' since 2004, while Jemele Hill, Mina Kimes and Bomani Jones are among those that appear on the panel.

The news that the iconic program, which is broadcast at 5 PM ET from Monday to Friday, would be eliminated for the first time in November.

According to ESPN, a 30 -minute edition of SportsCenter will now fill that slot during the summer.

“Around the horn has had a remarkable streak of more than two decades,” said the ESPN executive, David Roberts, in a statement.

'That type of longevity in the media is incredibly weird, and we hope to celebrate the many achievements of the program before the final firm in May.

“Beyond Tony and the whole of the taxpayers in the air, we are particularly grateful to the production team led by Erik Rydholm and Aaron Solomon, who have been fundamental in ATH's constant success from the beginning.”
