- Radacanu will join the Slovak coach Vado Platenik in the tournament
- Platenik trained Lulu Sun from New Zealand, who beat Raducanu in Wimbledon
- Raducanu had not had a coach since Nick Cavaday resigned in January
Emma Raducanu has appointed the seventh coach of her career, since she joins here in Indian Wells by Slovak Vlan Platenik, who will work with her to trial.
The 49 -year -old has previously trained Daria Kasatkina, Dominika Cibulkova, Veronika Kudermetova and Lulu Sun, the New Zealander who beat Raducanu in Wimbledon last year.
Raducanu has been without a coach since Nick Cavaday resigned in January after a year at work due to health problems.
The world No. 55 has lost four of its five games since then, a period that coincided with its terrible traumatic experience.
So this feels like the turn of a new page. It is also a deviation from the Raducanu formula to work with trusted coaches he has met since childhood.
His three previous periods with more established international coaches, Torben Beltz, Dmitry Tursonov and Sebastian Sachs, have lasted only a few months each.

But this feels like the right path: an experienced coach together with his appointment as a physical conditioning coach Yutaka Nakamura in December.
The first output of the Raducanu/Platenik axis will be Thursday against Moyuka Uchijima of Japan.
