Footy fans are furious after the star fallen Ben Cousins got a job coveted with Channel Seven in Perth before the 2025 season of the AFL.
It occurs when Cousins, 46, continues to rebuild his life after a drug addiction that ruined his sports career and also saw the decorated midfielder imprisoned multiple times for drug crimes, harassment and violation of an order of restriction of violence taken by a former partner.
Cousins will join AFLW Great Daisy Pearce, his former teammate of West Coast, Mark Lecras, and former Fremantle captain, Shaun Mcmanus, in the calls of the games at the home of the station this season involving both WA clubs.
The winner of the Premier League in 2006 caught a full -time position at Perth Radio Station Mix94.5 last month, after his role in Seven's Dancing With The Stars last year.
That occurred after debuting as presenter of seven news in Perth in June 2023, where he impressed the heads of the station.
But it seems that many are not impressed in the history of the redemption of Cousins, pointing out their questionable past, which includes domestic violence, drugs and crimes of harassment.

“Once again, shouting in a vacuum over Western Australia and Channel 7 giving time to Ben Cousins,” he published in response to development.
“I am in favor of someone to change their lives, but for a known DV offender … I think it's for the best they do outside the public eye.”

Cousins played 238 games and put 205 goals for the west coast between 1996 and 2007, and also won the Brownlow Medal in 2005.
The Eagles captain was suspended by the club in March 2007, only six months after the triumph of the grand final against Sydney, for alleged substance abuse and fired six months later after being arrested for drug possession and refusing to undergo a blood test.
He returned to AFL in 2009 with Richmond, before retiring at the end of the 2010 season.
Cousins was imprisoned six times separated in 13 years and spent seven months after bars in 2020, before he finally decided that it was enough.

A supporter gave credit to cousins for changing his life, noting that “he has worked so hard to overcome his addictions”
Now he laments deeply how long it took to clean.
“I wish I had not had to have taken so much time, and had to continue its course as it did,” he revealed to the front of last year.
'But yes, it is good to be working and busy, to have a real ambition and, you know, only connected with friends, family and even at the community level, you know.
“Life has never been better, to be honest.”
