Seven medical team members who treated Diego Maradona before his death will go to homicide trial, starting Tuesday in Buenos Aires.
The case revolves around accusations that his negligence contributed to the death of the 60 -year -old World Cup winner in 2020.
Maradona suffered a fatal heart attack at home in November of that year, only two weeks after he was discharged from the hospital after surgery due to bleeding in his brain.
His family alleged negligence, a concealment and derogatory comments of the medical team that supervised his attention, calling him a 'mafia'.
Maradona had fought with drug addiction, obesity and alcoholism for decades, and according to reports was close to death in 2000 and 2004.
But prosecutors suspect that if it were not for the negligence of their doctors, their death could have been avoided.

The prosecutor criticized the expert's report when he has hurriedly joined 72 hours and accused Ferrari of neglecting four years of evidence in favor of “a minimum portion of evidence offered by the defense.”
“There is no turn in the case,” prosecutors said.
Maradona's death was officially listed as “acute pulmonary edema secondary to exacerbated chronic heart failure.”
