He told you everything about the apathy that crosses the London stadium these days that the greatest ovation of the night came before the game had begun.
Michail Antonio returned only three months after his horror accident to be presented to the followers before the beginning and rightly received the welcome of a hero. They sang their name, they deployed a great banner in their honor, the stadium announcer praised Antonio's' strength, resistance and character to fight from his hospital bed here.
How those followers want to be able to assign tags similar to the performance of Antonio's teammates who followed. From the first whistle, West Ham gave them anything to encourage. Little strength, little resistance, small character.
Too meek, too passive. Newcastle were there to take. Things could have been different if you take Soucek had finished its early opportunity and West Ham felt aggrieved that the eventual winner of Bruno Guimaraes was not ruled out by an impulse against Max Kilman, but, in truth, the game was of a quality so poor that even a 0-0 would have flattered both sides.
However, the problem for West Ham is that this is not a rare fall. Only the four teams under the Hammers at the Premier League table have won fewer points at home this season, only Ipswich and Southampton have granted more goals.
This is a team capable of winning at the Arsenal under Graham Potter and in Newcastle under Julen Lopetegui. They obtained a commendable raffle in Villa Park under the new boss and when Potter returned to Chelsea, he was defeated, but with a performance that deserved more.

West Ham's defeat against Newcastle on Monday night was his eighth at home this season

Bruno Guimaraes scored the only goal of the game from the reach of the short distance to the hammers

The greatest ovation at the London Stadium came when Michail Antonio appeared for the first time since his horror accident before the beginning
When was the last time the fans left London's stadium chatting with enthusiasm between them about the intintilate football they had just seen?
Certainly not when they sent five in the first half against Arsenal. Or when they granted another five against Liverpool. Or when Jean-Phillipe Mateta dismantled on his own the defense of West Ham for Crystal Palace. Or when the Potter team produced one of the worst 45 minutes of the season against Brentford and somehow lost 1-0.
West Ham has won five games at home in this term, more than Everton and Crystal Palace and the same as Tottenham and Fulham, but even his recent victory at home against Leicester was more a story of foxes that threw the towel of descent than of the Hammers dismantling a sad side.
The only occasion in this term in which West Ham has sent an opponent on the homemade territory was a 4-1 victory over Ipswich in October.
But why are they so poor at home? Very often, when this question is asked, the easy answer is to point out the atmosphere at the London stadium compared to Upton Park.
When you talk to Hammers fans, they tell you how often they felt they could influence the results in the old place. You were close to everything, in addition to the opposition, you could intimidate and boost your team forward.
In the London Stadium, you often feel like a audience member at a sand concert that starts from the action.
In their last season at Upton Park, the Hammers won approximately half of their league games and only lost three. This season, they have won a third and have lost more than half.

Hammers fans often point out the poor atmosphere in the London Stadium, compared to Upton Park, as a problem
All this plays a role, from the atmosphere to the feeling of the walk to the ground and the distant and forgotten odors of hamburgers and onions and the meaning of the community.
But it is too easy to blame everything, too simple, an excuse too much and a crutch on which to change the attention of the underlying problems within the team and the club.
Because this place can rock. Anyone who has been there for those European nights in recent years can attest to that. Put a show and you will get an answer.
It does not help the season ended for March. Of both cups and blessed to be far enough above Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton that the descent should not bother them unless something ridiculous occurs.
Now we are basically in an extended preseason for Potter to discover what he needs, who wants who no. There are more than a few who will sit on that final list.
In spite of the entire approach during the January transfer window of the need for West Ham of a striker, the real problems for their worked at home are much further behind.
This is a team with Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas packet and, when it is fit, Crysencio Summerville. There are a lot of attack style, if perhaps, on one side, it is not always the most consistent.
West Ham sends too many goals, but Potter, at least, has pointed them out a bit there. Before arriving, they granted three goals or more in nine different games. It has not happened since then.

The chief of the Hammers, Graham Potter, must use the rest of the campaign as an extended preseason

West Ham's defense is still a big problem, even if Potter has managed to underpin it a bit

Stars like Lucas Packet (Left) and Crycensio Summerville (right) have fought for consistency
They also need more of the established pieces. West Ham has scored five Corners goals this season. Last season, under David Moyes, they scored 12, only arsenal achieved more.
“I apologize if things are not happening faster than we want them to be,” Potter said after Newcastle's defeat. “But when you see that players give everything, that commitment is there.”
The pressing problem is in the center of the field. They do not have anyone in the center of the park that can grab a game and turn it into their. A great midfielder establishes the pattern and tempo.
They no longer have rice declan, they no longer have Kevin Nolan or Mark Noble.
Against Newcastle, Potter began with a midfield trio of Soucek, James Ward-Prowse and Edson Álvarez. Potter praised Ward-Prowse for how much land he covered, but if West Ham must master the center of the park, they need more. There is heart and industry, but there is no dynamism, creativity or threat of objectives they need.
Cole Palmer, for example, has created 71 opportunities for Chelsea this season and Bruno Fernandes has created 60. The main creator of West Ham since the center of the field has been a package with 26.
Palmer has combined for 20 goals and assists. Soucek leads the Hammers midfielders with seven. Pay is four.
They need someone who can divide the defenses. Guimaraes, the winner of the game on Monday night, leads the way for the passes completed between the lines of the season, when a pass divides the defensive structure of the opponent, with 93. Payer leads the way for Hammers in 53.

James Ward-Prowse's energy levels have impressed, but they need players who can grab a game in the park media
Potter knows this. He is desperate to strengthen his options in the center of the field in the summer and has been linked to the midfielder of England Angel Gomes.
Potter has caused an impression behind the scene since he took over. Those around the club say that the mood has raised and made everyone feel more united and clearly communicate what they want to see.
He has seen flashes of it, but, if he succeeds next season, he must see more, especially at home. For that to happen, you need to land the right man in the middle.
