Virgil Van Dijk insists that “he does not know” what will happen on his future of Liverpool, but insists that “there is no need to panic”, with the captain of the Reds he still does not agree on a new agreement beyond this season

  • The Liverpool captain is one of the three stars out of the contract at the end of the season
  • Van Dijk alarmed fans this week after saying that “he has no idea” if he will stay
  • Listen now: Everything is starting! Why the final of the League Cup is Newcastle to lose

Virgil Van Dijk has urged Liverpool fans not to panic or feel anxious for their unsolved future, and channel all its energy to support the team to win the Capao Cup final on Sunday and the Premier League title also.

The Reds seek to defend their crown from the League Cup this weekend against Newcastle, but supporters will travel to the capital worried that it may be the last time they see the tastes of Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah play in their colors in Wembley.

But yesterday in an extensive interview, Captain Van Dijk, who is out of contract in the summer, said: 'While he is calm with you, then there is no need to panic, whatever it may happen in the future. If I worry, you see me playing a little worried and that is not the case.

'Maybe I run this completely and then, if there is still no news, I don't know. I don't know at this stage (what will happen). But I don't want to create anxiety or anything like that, I just keep my head down and concentrate on winning the next 10 games.

'That is my full approach: being there for the manager, the players, the fans. So let's see what he brings and I'm sure at the end of the season there will be news. But what kind of news I'm not sure.

“The only thing I can say, and I have already said it many times, I am very proud to be the captain of this beautiful club that means a lot to me and has meant a lot to me in the past, as well as my family.”
