Everton's manager, David Moyes, said his link with West Ham fans was unwavering, after seeing his team fight with the club.
Moyes received a warm reception of the visitor contingent and his former players after the 1-1 tie in Goodison, in which he saw his signings of West Ham Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek combined to give the Graham Potter team the leadership.
Moyes said: 'I have to say that the players there, I have had many moments with them over the years. I think you build links with most of them. They have a great team. I know, I spent a lot of money there. They have some super players.
'Tomás scored, which was a blow, but it doesn't surprise me. All are incredibly talented players. I also believe that West Ham's followers have been very, very good for me over the years. I wanted to show my respect for them for that. They gave me a great shipment to West Ham.
Moyes said his background team has been working to develop defender Jake O'Brien, a scorer of Everton's Equalizer, who has been revelation since Moyes arrived and began playing it.
Moyes said: 'I'm glad he had a goal. He is capable of that. The way we have played it, we have tried to interpret it on a hybrid paper. The way West Ham played, had to go and join higher in the field and be an attack support. ''
