The Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has issued a response to Roy Keane's fierce to his leadership.
The United Legend had an explosive argument with Ian Wright in the Podcast Stick To Football last month when he accused the current squad of being “impostors” and said that Fernandes needed to prove that he was more than a talented player.
From Keane's impressive diatribe, Fernandes has reached the maximum form, scoring a hat-trick in the victory of United Europa League over Real Sociedad last week, before registering a goal and two assists in a 3-0 victory in Leicester on Sunday night.
After the comfortable victory at the King Power Stadium, Fernandes was asked if he had been injured or motivated by Keane's comments.
“I think both,” Fernandes told Sky Sports. 'Obviously, it is not good to listen to those things about you, I think anyone likes that. But at the same time, it motivates and makes you think that people think there are many things that you have to improve.
'You have to take it positively, and think what people say, if there is a margin of improvement or not. I know you're talking about Roy Keane. I have great respect for Roy Keane. I think it was one of the best captains that the club had. An incredible player for the club, basically won everything for this club.

Roy Keane was fiercely critical with Fernandes during an appearance in the stick to football podcast last month

Fernandes has approached Keane's criticism and affirms that he has inspired him to improve
'It is the way he thinks of me as a player, as a captain. I have to respect that. I try to do things my way so as not to be the best captain, but a person and teammate, as I can. I do it every day. I try to be an example in everything I do in training sessions, in the field.
'But obviously, not everyone will like it (that), not everyone will think in the same way, and respect all the opinions of all. I have accepted that there is a lot of margin of improvement in my game and my leadership.
Fernandes has somehow gone to respond to his critics in recent weeks, but Keane did not stop in his evaluation of the united pattern last month when he urge the Portuguese midfielder to show more fighting qualities.
'Talent is not enough! You keep going back to talent: Bruno is a talented player, but it's not enough! said.
Who were you in the locker room, Tony Adams! Tony Adams was this, Tony Adams was that, because he was a fighter!
“You have young players who have to look at someone and go” I like what it does. “Everyone can't put the ball at the top of the 25 -yard network, I understand it, but you love someone who goes” boys, are you with me? Are you with me? “
Wright defended Fernandes in the middle of Keane's pern, and insisted that United would be in danger of falling into the championship without his captain.
“Maybe he is not that kind of captain, Roy, I am with you, but what he is doing with respect to … saving you, playing that pass, the goal,” Wright said after United 2-2 draw in Everton.
“If Bruno is not there, United is in the battle of descent.”
Fernandes now has 16 goals and 15 assists in all competitions this season.
