Six other nations end, another disappointing end for Scotland. Here, ex -captains of Scotland Andy Nicol and Jason White He gives his opinion about the tournament … and the future of chief coach Gregor Towsend.
Gregor Towsend has a year left in his contract: is he still the right man for work?
Andy Nicol: I think it is.
Scotland has improved with Gregor. The problem is thus that all other countries appear in Wales.
It will be greatly frustrated because most of the games that you have won in any six -nations championship are three and that does not do the job; You need to win a minimum of four to have the opportunity to win the title.
Scotland probably has the best background in the six nations, but the lesions at the head of Scott Cumming and Alex Williamson meant that we did not have the power and bulk to compete against the French or the Irish.
The key for Gregor to stay or go may not have what he has done or not to have done at work; It could be determined by other vacancies.
Franco Smith is in the store window and Wales can come to call him to move him away from Glasgow, which could, in turn, force Murrayfield to act quickly if they want to keep Smith in the Scottish system.
Jason White: There are many positive aspects about how we are playing as a nation and our intention to attack. Gregor deserves a lot of credit for that.
However, the frustration of fans and former players like me cannot take the next step and produce the level of performance that we need once or twice in each tournament and hurts us as much as fans.
Would anyone who come to make a difference when it is the players who need to deliver the field? In general, my feeling is that Gregor still has respect for the group and give everything they can.
Without a doubt, there will be a complete review now trying to identify the areas to improve and I hope that David Nucifora has the opportunity to have an impact and begin to reduce his brand.

Towsend's future as Scotland coach could be determined by developments in other places

What positive aspects did you take from the tournament for Scotland?
Nicol: The attack of Scotland is world class. We obtained some impressive attempts and when we are lit, we are brilliant to see. We cause all kinds of problems to France on Saturday night with the rhythm and style with which we attack.
Finn Russell is world -class and also three from Duhan Van Der Merwe, Darcy Graham and Blair Kinghorn, who complement each other well.
I thought Tom Jordan looked like class and played very well, but we lost Soone Tuipulotu. Gregor Brown's appearance was encouraging.
WHITE: Our game style is excellent to see and adapts to our players. Our background was on fire for each game (except the Irish encounter) and we have several players that can be described rightly as a world class. Kinghorn has really realized to be a key player along with Huw Jones, Graham and Russell. They are all very good.
And negative?
Nicol: The injuries to the key players highlighted the lack of real depth in certain positions.
We are light in the head without real replacement for Zander Fagerson. Losing on Twickenham encapsulated the real negative for me and is that Scotland was not ruthless and clinical.
The game was there to win on Twickenham, so many line breaks, many opportunities to keep England and do not take them.
We had Wales on Murrayfield's floor, but we left them back to the game. We could have easily made Wales what England did if we had been more clinical and ruthless.
WHITE: Not having Siaone was a real blow.
He has become so quickly a key player and leader. We will never know what difference I would have made. Our inability to perform an 80 -minute performance has been so expensive and is a mental fall more than anything else.
The most frustrating for me is our confrontation versus Ireland every year that advances from men in green.
His style of play and ours have not produced a genuinely close game in several years. Something special will be needed to win in Dublin when we touch them.
Is it realistic to expect Scotland to increase the depth of talent they have?
Nicol: Yes. However, we do not have the number of players like other countries and we only have two professional teams, which means that there is no real opportunity for young blood players in a professional environment.
However, we must simply improve young players in development of what we have done in the last decade more or less. Children under 20 have really struggling lately. They defeated Wales and recently lost France, which is encouraging, but the system must improve fundamentally.
WHITE: It will always be a real challenge just having two professional teams to deepen our pool.
We need to find a way for our younger players to be exposed to higher rugby levels before. This is the main area in which David Nucifora can have a real impact and show its value.
If I had a magical wand, it would be a third professional team in northern Scotland, but that costs a lot of money that the SRU simply does not have and would need external investment.

Duhan Van Der Merwe is one of several Scotland players that can be described as world class
And finally, were the victors of France?
Nicol: Yes, but they will regret it is not a great blow. They flew absolutely on Twickenham when they killed so many attempts from their own driving errors.
43 points against Wales, 73 against Italy, 42 against Ireland, 36 against Scotland and would have scored more than 40 against England if they had risk some of their possibilities.
They are a team at this time, mixing power and physical with an incredible speed and style.
A modern combination and only South Africa can compete with this type of game at this time.
WHITE: France for me were excellent and valuable winners. Their game style, in -depth force and a super bank that will close the games made them the best team.
His defense in the first 25 minutes against Ireland won that game and prepared them for the title.
Even without the wounded Antoine Dupont, they had too much in all areas and is a fair reflection of the strength of the 14 best acting and operating well together.
