Contract uncertainty for Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold will NOT affect Liverpool's title fight, claims Arne Slot, despite the trio being able to speak to foreign clubs about a move from January 1.

Arne Slot insists nothing will change on New Year's Day for Liverpool – the day marks the moment when key men Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold can legally talk to foreign clubs about a move next summer.

The trio are out of contract at the end of this season and the lack of progress has acted as a negative antidote to the successes on the field this season. But Slot believes that any negativity is limited to the outside and that those at the club are only focused on achieving their goals this season.

Asked if anything would change on Jan. 1, Slot said, “If we would, it's probably not the time to tell you now.” In general, I am not talking about contractual situations here. It would be a surprise if I were the one to announce that one of them has spread!

'Keep asking, that's your job but you probably won't get an answer from me. It is clear that from January 1, perhaps for you (media), things will change a lot but you are in constant conversations with the club and let's wait to see what happens.

“As long as they continue to act like this, the coach will be happy.”

Slot added that he doesn't feel any extra pressure given Liverpool are seven points clear in the Premier League, saying: “You're sitting in front of the Liverpool manager, so there's always pressure at this club.”

“If we are one, two, three, four or five in the table, if you work at a big club like Liverpool, there is always pressure. And I think last season they were number one halfway through too?

“So it's not so strange that a club like us is the leader of the league, but we know how many good teams there are in this league and they are also capable of winning almost every game.” So there is no extra pressure, there is always pressure when you work at a club like Liverpool.”

Liverpool travel to West Ham on Sunday and will be without Dominik Szoboszlai, who is suspended after receiving five yellow cards this season. Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are still out, but the Reds will hope to be fit before long.

Of the injured, Slot said: “They won't be back at West Ham United. Then there's a week in between. Let's see how close they are then. It's hard to say at the moment because they haven't trained with the group yet.

'Hopefully in the coming days they will get closer to that situation. But of course, Ibou has been out for five or six weeks maybe, Conor the same time and they are competing with players who are completely fit and doing very well, so I have to make the right judgement.

Liverpool are also closely monitoring the fitness of striker Diogo Jota after he missed almost two months with a chest injury. He's fit, but Slot doesn't want to rush him into too much too soon.
