Australia won an all-time classic Boxing Day Test, taking seven wickets in the final session at the MCG to defeat India by 184 runs and go 2-1 up in the Border-Gavaskar series.
In front of a record overall attendance for a Test crowd in Australia, the hosts had to overcome India's challenging star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (84 off 208), who was dramatically dismissed by Pat Cummins.
Veteran Nathan Lyon (2-39), who has struggled throughout this series, took the last wicket with 39 minutes and 12 overs remaining to seal a remarkable victory.
However, the end of the match was marked by controversy as Yashasvi Jaiswal had a heated argument with the umpires on the field after his crucial video dismissal on the final day.
The Indian opener had made 84 and was emerging as his team's last slim hope of a draw when he tried to hook Pat Cummins.
The Australians immediately reviewed the not out decision and that prompted the third umpire to take a closer look at the footage.

The 184-run victory ended one of the most exciting Boxing Day trials in history on Monday night.
The Indian fans roared in approval when the 'snicko' sounded on the scoreboard and showed no clear noise.
But the footage also clearly showed a deviation and eventually Jaiswal was given permission to leave India 7-140.
While Jaiswal was furious, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting had no doubt that it was the right decision.
“It clearly hit the nail on the head. And I realized at that moment, Jaiswal really started walking,” Ponting said on the Seven Network.
'As soon as the Australians went up the stairs, he started to take a couple of steps away.
'Snicko hasn't proven it was correct, but the referee caught the deviation and froze it where the ball was at the end of the glove. As far as I'm concerned, there's no argument.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is seen in a heated conversation with the umpires after his controversial dismissal paved the way for the Australians' victory.
But commentator Justin Langer pointed out that there will be consequences.
'This is going to be tremendously controversial. While it looked like it had come off the face of the bat and glove, the snicko said no,” Langer said.
“This will be a great talking point after the game.”
Former referee Simon Taufel said on Seven that the third referee made the correct decision and said the deviation was conclusive on the video, regardless of the snicko.
After he attempted a rash single in the first innings and was run out for 82 when Virat Kohli refused to take the run, Jaiswal was the subject of more controversy on Monday.
Apart from his expulsion, he was not given a release when he was 31 years old. The Australians reviewed the decision and the video strongly suggested the ball would have hit the top of the leg stump.
