A Texas teenager has been charged with animal cruelty … after police say she poisoned another student's show goat.
Aubrey Vanlandingham was arrested late last month and charged with animal cruelty … after police said they saw security footage of her administering toxic pesticides to a classmate's goat with a spray gun — a tool commonly used to administer medication to goats and other farm animals is used.
Prosecutors say the goat, named Willie, died about a day after she was allegedly given the toxic pesticide. She had symptoms such as convulsions and shortness of breath before she finally died. They claim Vanlandingham “intentionally and knowingly tortured a farm animal.”
According to police, this happened at Vista Ridge High School in their barn in Cedar Park, Texas, about 20 miles north of Austin… and an affidavit is available – first reported by CBS Austin — says Aubrey has already confessed to poisoning the goat and reportedly admitted this was her second attempt because she claimed the animal owner's daughter was a “fraud.”
Before Willie was killed, police say she searched her phone for information about deadly poisons for animals – and also for ways to clear her search history. Vanlandingham was released on a $5,000 bond.
