Eagle-Eyed NFL Fans Slam 'Woke' NBC Over Graphic Comparing Commanders QB Jayden Daniels to Robert Griffin III

Angry NFL fans took to social media to criticize NBC for how the broadcaster marked Jayden Daniels eclipsing Robert Griffin III's rushing record on Sunday night.

Daniels led his Commanders to a 30-24 playoff-clinching victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night and achieved a historic accomplishment of his own en route to victory.

The rookie quarterback rushed for 127 yards, bringing his total to 867 for the season and surpassing the record Griffin set in his debut season in 2012 with 815 yards.

When NBC showed a graphic comparing the two, eagle-eyed fans noticed that NBC removed the 'Redskins' logo from Griffin's jersey.

The team changed its name in 2020, succumbing to years of pressure by dropping the 'Redskins', which is considered offensive to Native Americans. In 2021, the team played as the Washington Football Team before becoming the Commanders.

'Imagine being so 'progressive' that you edit history in real time. “NBC touching up the Redskins logo on RG3's jersey is the ultimate clown show,” wrote one disgruntled fan on X. “If you're offended by a graphic, wait until you hear how inflation is ruining real life.”

Another NFL fan who took to social media wrote: “NBC erasing the Redskins logo is a perfect example of cultural erasure.

'Woke ideology is not limited to changing the name of pets: it is about rewriting history, erasing heritage and imposing ideological control. “This is a war against tradition.”

A different viewer said, “Woke NBC thinks they're too good for the Redskins name.” News flash: censorship doesn't make you virtuous, it makes you a coward.

'Freedom of expression means respecting all opinions, not eliminating what offends you. What's next, rewrite the history books? Let's stand up against this CP nonsense and celebrate our freedom of speech!'

Earlier this year, the family of the man depicted on the Redskins logo said they wanted him back on the team's crest.

“The fans want him back and we want him back,” Thomas White Calf, great-nephew of late Blackfeet Nation chief John Two Guns White Calf, after meeting with Sen. Steve Daines (R., Montana).

'Our ancestor was the most famous and photographed native in history. Two Guns was also the face of the Indian Nickelhead. I'm proud of him. The Blackfeet are proud of him.

The origin of the term is controversial, according to a 2016 Washington Post article that states that it was first used as a pejorative as early as 1863 in Minnesota.

Daniels, meanwhile, has been the breakout quarterback of the 2024 rookie class after the Commanders selected him with the second pick in the NFL Draft earlier this year.

The team completes the regular season on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys before its first playoff appearance since 2020 the following weekend.
