Gary Neville has criticized Manchester United as “the worst pound-for-pound football club in the country” after their woeful start against Newcastle.
United came into the game 14th in the Premier League and got off to a woeful start at Old Trafford when Alexander Isak put Newcastle ahead after just four minutes.
There was more misery to come when Joelinton put the visitors 2-0 up in the 19th minute.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “You're looking at the worst pound-for-pound football club in the country.” They're that bad.'
United manager Ruben Amorim reacted by substituting striker Joshua Zirkzee after just 33 minutes, being replaced by Kobbie Mainoo.
It has been a miserable season so far for United as Amorim's appointment has not had the desired effect so far.
After he succeeded Erik ten Hag, there was a lot of excitement at United when Amorim was appointed.
However, they came into the game against Newcastle with a mixed record of four wins, one draw and five losses in ten games.
