Pistons star Jaden Ivey will miss the rest of the season with a leg injury that left him screaming in agony on the ground

Detroit Pistons star Jaden Ivey will likely sit out the rest of the NBA season after suffering a fractured fibula in his left leg, according to ESPN.

During Wednesday's game between the Pistons and the Orlando Magic, Ivey was stretchered off the court after a brutal collision with Cole Anthony in the fourth quarter.

After the ball was cleared on a failed rebound attempt by both teams, Ivey and Anthony dove to retrieve the loose rock. When the two faced each other first, Ivey was thrown forward and landed on his lower back as the Magic regained their position.

The referees blew the whistle seconds before Ivey began screaming in pain after the play.

An alternate angle showed how Anthony threw his hip and body weight onto Ivey's left leg, causing it to bend awkwardly. His momentum sent Ivey's feet flying through the air before landing on the wood.

The Purdue product remained on the ground momentarily as players and staff members from both teams surrounded him. Anthony was also seen crying while his teammates comforted both players.

As Ivey was led to the locker room, fans escorted him with applause and chants of 'Ivey.'

On Thursday, Shams Charania reported that the third-year star suffered the injury and is unlikely to return this season.

Before his unfortunate departure, Ivey enjoyed a 22-point, four-rebound performance during a brilliant season in his young career. Ivey averaged 17.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and four assists per game.

The Pistons won the game, 105-96, to improve to a 15-18 record.

After the game, Magic coach Jamahl Mosley shared his thoughts and urged fans to pray for Ivey's recovery.

“Pray for the young man,” Mosley said. 'It was heartbreaking to see that happen. “You are competing the best you can and you never want that to happen to anyone.”

'Our thoughts and prayers are with him. Praying it's not as bad as it seemed. I pray for a speedy recovery whatever the case.”
