The procession for the former president Jimmy Carter started in Georgia… his home state, where he died this week at the age of 100.
A motorcade carrying a flag-draped casket of the 39th president began the journey to Washington on Saturday by passing through his hometown of Plains.

Former Secret Service agents who protected President Carter served as pallbearers as the procession first began at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Georgia.
A private service will then take place on Saturday at the Carter Center in Atlanta, where the former president has set up his presidential library.
The public can pay their respects at the Carter Center through Tuesday…From there, Carter will travel to Washington, D.C., for a service for lawmakers. There will then be a national memorial service at the Washington National Cathedral.
As we reported, the Carter Center told TMZ … the former president died at home on Sunday surrounded by family. He was the longest-living former president in history.
