Liverpool and Manchester United will play at 4:30 p.m., as those responsible have decided.
The Premier League clash was on the cards this morning after heavy overnight snow left the region under an amber weather warning from the Met Office.
Liverpool City Council's Safety Advisory Group held a meeting at 9am this morning and another was called just before midday to make a decision on the match.
Ground staff have been rushing to prepare the Anfield pitch after it was left covered in a blanket of snow.
Amber warnings, while not as severe as red warnings, indicate a possible risk to life and significant travel disruption.
Images on social media showed snow covering the ground on the streets around Anfield this morning, with one fan claiming it looks like “Siberia”.

Liverpool wrote on X: “Today's match against Manchester United will go ahead as planned. Two safety meetings were held earlier to assess the weather and travel conditions.
'We thank everyone involved in helping us make this game today. If you travel to Anfield, be very careful. We hope to see you there.
The Met Office's north-west weather forecast for that day headlined “heavy snow, which will cause some disturbance”.
It said: 'Snow in the north and Pennines, which may be heavy in places during the morning and early afternoon. Turning to rain in southern areas with risk of freezing rain for some. The snow will taper off through tonight. Maximum temperature 2 °C.'
Taggy's Bar, a Liverpool FC-themed establishment next to the stadium, wrote on Instagram: “The snow is up to five centimeters in places.” It is raining a little, but it is very cold, so it will most likely not blow away the snow. My money is in deferment. They told me we'll meet at nine.
Liverpool City Council supporters have made several outings in the past 24 hours in a bid to boost road safety for traveling fans.
On Sunday morning, the runway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport was temporarily closed due to the conditions. Roads in the northwest have also been closed due to snow and collisions.
Meanwhile, two Football League matches have been cancelled: Fleetwood vs Wimbledon and Chesterfield vs Gillingham.
Arne Slot seeks to extend his team's lead at the top of the standings to eight points
A pitch inspection was carried out after heavy overnight snowfall left Liverpool looking like 'Siberia'.
Some Manchester United fans were begging for the match to be canceled on social media due to their torrid form, leaving the odds stacked against them.
'Safety first. That's my motto. Better safe than sorry. That's another one. If there is even the slightest concern for the well-being of anyone involved (which there clearly is), it is best to postpone it. Or even cancel completely. Share the points. Everyone is happy. And most importantly, everyone is safe,” wrote one prominent United fan on Bluesky.
“Honestly, this morning is like Siberia. People could lose limbs to frostbite. Stop this madness now.'
'The league is null and void?' another joked.
“Worst snow we've ever seen, dangerous conditions right there, cancel it,” fan channel The United Stand wrote on X.
In December, Liverpool's clash with Everton was canceled just four hours before kick-off due to chaos caused by Storm Darragh.
Storm Darragh wreaked havoc across the country with winds of up to 92mph, causing travel chaos, damage and leaving thousands of people without power.
Liverpool said the late postponement was due to “severe weather and strong winds, which have also caused serious disruption to travel in and around Merseyside”.
Rubén Amorim looks to reverse his team's form after five defeats in the last six league games
The final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park was postponed due to Storm Darragh last month.
It is still unclear when the rescheduled Merseyside derby, the last at Goodison Park, will take place.
Arne Slot's side have one less game as a result of that postponement, but will want to avoid another one as they won't want the games to pile up in 2025.
Liverpool are five points ahead of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League with two games in hand.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are 14th in the table and have lost five of their last six league games.
