Jay Z wants a lawyer Tony BuzbeeLegally, he's in no position – he's seeking what Buzbee calls a legal sanction over a false rape lawsuit that Jay describes as damaging to his reputation.
According to Jay's new motion filed by his attorney Alex SpiroBuzbee has not conducted even the most rudimentary investigation into his client “Jane Doe’s” shocking claims in her lawsuit. The woman claimed Jay-Z and Diddy After the MTV VMA Awards in 2000, when she was 13, she drugged and raped her.
In his filing, Jay also points out that Buzbee did not withdraw the lawsuit following an NBC News report Interview with the accuser aired, casting doubt on most of the details of her allegations.
For example, she said the attack occurred in “a large white apartment building with a gated U-shaped driveway” that was about a 20-minute drive from the VMAs. However, there are photos that show Jay after the awards ceremony at the Lotus nightclub in Manhattan.
She also claimed that her father picked her up after the attack, but her father had no memory of it. In the documents, Jay says the trip for them would have taken 10 hours round trip…so it seems like something he would remember.
The woman also claimed she watched the VMAs on a jumbotron outside Radio City Music Hall, but Jay says photos show there was no such screen outside of Radio City, and in fact NYC denied MTV's request for one to use.
Finally, Jay points out her claim that she spoke to her Benji Madden during the after-party — but after the accuser's interview, Benji's rep told NBC that the singer wasn't even in New York for the 2000 VMAs because Good Charlotte was touring the Midwest.
Jay-Z's overall point is that all of these details were easy to debunk, and if Buzbee had done even a little bit of his homework, he would have discovered all the holes in the woman's story before filing a lawsuit that was so damaging to Jay.
However, Buzbee fires back, telling us… “With each frantic act, Mr. Spiro's team reeks of desperation. Mr. Spiro and his team believe that the laws and rules do not apply to them. You are completely wrong. They also believe they can bully or intimidate lawyers by filing baseless and frivolous pleadings full of lies and half-truths. Here too they are completely wrong. We will not allow ourselves to be bullied or intimidated. always.”
