Edwin Castro — the lucky Los Angeles native who won a $2 billion lottery jackpot in 2023 — is the latest victim of the Pacific Palisades wildfire… and lost his Malibu home to the flames.
A source familiar with the situation tells TMZ … Castro's beachfront property was completely destroyed by the fire … and images of the aftermath show the property completely leveled – wooden foundation boards and nothing else on the beach.
The house – which he reportedly bought for $3.8 million – was right down the street… a small white house with beach access, 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
Now it's all gone… but Edwin is covered – because he has several properties across Los Angeles, including one in the Hollywood Hillswhich he bought for just over $25 million after winning his dough.
He also has a home in Altadena – a neighborhood in northeast Los Angeles above Pasadena where the Eaton Fire, LA's second-largest fire, is wreaking havoc.
Castro's Altadena property is safe… Photos were taken today showing the home completely intact.
Castro exploded after winning the huge prize… although he lived a relatively quiet life after the victory. He actually had to deal with some legal drama after another man accused him of stealing the winning ticket – but he won this lawsuit in October.
Other celebrities – like Billy Crystal, Whitney Cummings, Spencer Pratt And Heidi Monday, John Goodman, Jhene Aiko, Anna Faris, Anthony Hopkins and more – have already lost their homes to the Palisades Fire…which has reportedly grown to more than 19,000 acres.
