Matt LeinartI'm glad the NFL moved the Rams' playoff game from Los Angeles…and makes it clear TMZ Sports It wouldn't have been right to play the tilt on Friday as fires continue to ravage the city.
The league officially moved Monday's LA vs. Minnesota Wild Card round game to Arizona on Thursday, citing the safety of its players and fans … and Leinart told us at LAX that he was fully in favor of the move be.
The former quarterback, who actually played his college ball in LA and then parts of his pro career in Glendale, Arizona, said things are just “more important than football” right now.
“The security and what everyone is going through here is obviously a huge devastation,” he said. “That’s why I think it’s the smart decision.”
Of course, this is a disappointment for the Rams and their fans … because the NFC West champions should have been rewarded for all their success in the 2024-25 season with a home game in the opening round.
But Leinart said the boys should be able to handle the 370-mile ride… telling us: “They're professionals, they'll get it done.” You’ll be fine.”
For the Rams, LA prez Kevin Demoff says the organization is providing at least 15 buses to transport 750 season ticket holders to State Farm Stadium … to make at least some of Monday night's game feel more comfortable.
