Welcome to the opening day of the Australian Open 2025!
It's been a very rainy and stormy day here in Australia. We've seen all four seasons today at Melbourne Park and the rain hasn't stopped!
Thunder and lightning have also struck and the city skyline was shrouded in dark gray clouds this afternoon.
We have been lucky enough to enjoy pleasant temperatures this week; yesterday they reached 31ºc in the city center.
But with 25mm of rain falling in the last four hours, there isn't much tennis being played on the outdoor courts at the moment, and having gotten soaked on my trip to the media centre, it looks like there won't be much tennis being played. this week!
But that doesn't stop the party! Fans at Melbourne Park are still reveling in the atmosphere and we have plenty of tennis ahead of us this afternoon.
