More than two years after suffering cardiac arrest on a football field, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin had a good game in the AFC wild card round against the Denver Broncos.
Hamlin finished the day with four total tackles, including a solo tackle, in the Broncos' 31-7 demolition at home in Orchard Park.
But the highlight for Hamlin came late in the game when he dove to grab an interception from Denver rookie quarterback Bo Nix.
Hamlin caught the ball and then ran out to celebrate, removing his helmet and a protective neck cape before jumping into the crowd of Bills fans.
It was a wonderful moment, but it was immediately undone when the referees ruled that the ball had hit the ground before he could catch it, overturning the interception and ruling it an incomplete pass.
Cameras captured a stunned Hamlin staring at a video board with his mouth open in disbelief.

That led some NFL fans to take to social media to mock Hamlin for celebrating an interception that wasn't the case.
“He can't even catch the ball doing all that,” one user posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Another user commented: 'Bro, keep looking for a Disney moment. I know very well that the ball fell to the ground.
“If the catch was as good as the celebration, maybe it would have been a choice,” another user joked.
Another comment read: 'I cringe like shit.' The guy didn't even remove it.
This season, Hamlin has had a much bigger impact than he did in the 2023 season, when he spent a lot of time recovering from the incident in Cincinnati that left him in the hospital after tackling a Bengals wide receiver.
In the 2024 regular season, Hamlin played in 14 games, making 89 total tackles (62 solo tackles) and recording two interceptions.
He will look to improve on that mark in the AFC Divisional round next week, when the Bills host the Baltimore Ravens.
