After putting together one of the best seasons any running back has ever had in college football, Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has turned his eyes to the NFL.
Jeanty and the Broncos qualified for the College Football Playoff, but were eliminated by Penn State during the Fiesta Bowl.
Now, after declaring for the NFL Draft, Jeanty is ready to make the jump to professional football.
As for possible destinations, there is one specific team the Broncos superstar has his eye on.
'I would love to play for the Cowboys. “It would be like a dream come true,” Jeanty told NBC.
Jeanty is a native of Jacksonville, Florida and was born to a naval officer, which led him to play soccer in various places around the country and world (including Italy for a brief time).
Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty says he would like to play for the Dallas Cowboys
Jeanty had one of the best college seasons a running back has ever had in 2024
But when he told his parents that he would like to play in the United States again, the Jeantys moved to Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.
Now, it is very possible that the college phenom will move to the Cowboys.
For starters, Dallas has the 12th overall pick after their mediocre season. After a season in which they really struggled to find consistency on the field, the Cowboys could be looking for a running back.
Jeanty is widely considered the top running back prospect in the NFL Draft pool. While recent conventional wisdom dictates that NFL teams should avoid taking running backs in the first round, the Cowboys could be forgiven for using their pick to select Jeanty.
This year, Jeanty racked up 2,601 rushing yards, just 27 yards shy of the all-time college football record held by Hall of Famer Barry Sanders.
While Sanders won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma State in 1988, Jeanty came up short this season, coming in second in the voting behind Colorado wide receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter.
