Rodgers has prepared for a busy window and insists Celtic have contingency plans if they lose a star man.

Brendan Rodgers says Celtic are prepared to move quickly in the transfer market should any major bids come in for any of their star players.

With just over two weeks remaining in the January window, Rodgers has dismissed speculation over the future of talismanic striker Kyogo Furuhashi.

Kyogo, the subject of interest from MLS in the United States and Bundesliga clubs in Germany, remains under contract at Parkhead until the summer of 2027.

Last week, MLS was forced to apologize after wrongly announcing that a deal had been reached for the Japanese striker to join Atlanta United.

Nicolas Kuhn is another of Celtic's star men who has been linked with clubs in England in recent weeks, while Cameron Carter-Vickers is reportedly being tracked by German champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Rodgers insists the club must be prepared for all eventualities and promised they would act quickly to sign a replacement should any of their big names leave.

“With all these what-if scenarios, you have to be (prepared),” said the Celtic boss, whose side travel to face Dundee tonight as they look to extend their 15-point lead at the top of the Premiership.

“I think the most important thing is that if a player doesn't want to be here, then he leaves. And then, if that time comes, the club has to get the best deal possible.

'So I never see the point in keeping someone who doesn't want to be here. For us, everything is eventualities. That's what we prepare for, whether it's injuries or transfers.

'I think it has to be done, you have to always be prepared and that is our message.

'For Kyogo right now, he is happy. “He is working well, scoring goals and enjoying football.”

Despite scoring twice in a 4-1 win at Ross County last weekend, it was notable that Kyogo's celebrations seemed somewhat subdued.

Normally such a lively figure in the way he celebrates with fans, both after scoring and at full-time, the Japanese striker, who turns 30 next week, kept things in check.

Rodgers isn't worried about the player's mentality, adding: “I see it every day. People are always looking into something, you know, if he didn't celebrate enough or he didn't do this or he didn't do that.

'I see him every day, I see his work. I see his intensity and maybe he scores so much that he doesn't have to celebrate it all the time. Or maybe it was too cold!

But it's the same guy. It is speculation and we are not afraid of speculation or gossip.

There will always be little fragments around you. But no, he is fine and will travel to Dundee.

Meanwhile, Carter-Vickers insists he is fully focused despite being linked with German champions Leverkusen earlier in the window.

He said: 'I feel very comfortable here. To be fair, when I see things like that, I don't pay much attention to them.

“You never know how much truth there is in it unless, obviously, they tell you directly, which I didn't. I just focus on what I'm going through here.

“It's definitely nice to see things like that because it shows you that people notice what you're doing and that's good.”

'It's like anything in life, while you do something, you want to do it the best you can.

“So whether there is interest or not at the moment, and for any of the players, we are at Celtic and we want to do well for the team.”

Elsewhere, Celtic are pressing ahead with their plans to try and sign Irish teenager Mason Melia from St Patrick's Athletic.

The 17-year-old striker is being pursued by a host of clubs across Europe, but Celtic and Tottenham are believed to be the two favorites to land his signature.

Meliá, who is already capped at under-19 level by Ireland, was invited to Glasgow last week and was given a tour of the stadium and training facilities in Lennoxtown.

Celtic are also interested in signing Louie Barry from Aston Villa after his parent club recalled the winger from a productive loan spell at Stockport County. The 21-year-old, who can play on the left wing or in the centre, scored 16 goals in 24 games in the first half of the season for the English League One team.

Villa manager Unai Emery, who agreed a deal to sign Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund for £21m, intends to rein in Barry this month.

Rodgers is interested in a loan deal but that may prove difficult as Villa are already close to their full quota of foreign loans under Premier League rules.

Middlesbrough and Leeds are also competing for a player who has represented both England and the Republic of Ireland at youth international level.

Luis Palma's proposal to sign for Rayo Vallecano has been thwarted after the Spanish team was hit with a transfer ban.

Out of favor at Celtic, Honduran winger Palma looked set to join the La Liga club. But the deal fell through due to FIFA sanctions imposed on Rayo.
