Kyle Walker stayed home for Man City's trip to Brentford tonight as the Premier League champions' exit approaches.
The English defender will end a seven-and-a-half-year spell at the Etihad with a move to Italy for the remainder of the season.
Both Milan clubs are competing for his services and Mail Sport understands any loan deal could become a permanent two-year deal once concluded.
Now, ahead of the league clash at the GTech Community Stadium, Mail Sport can reveal that the full-back has not traveled with the team to the game.
Walker, 34, was left out of City's squad for Saturday's 8-0 thrashing of Salford City, after which Pep Guardiola revealed he had requested to “explore the option” of playing abroad.
Earlier in the week, Pep Guardiola admitted he had not decided whether his captain would play for the club again.
Kyle Walker stayed at home during Manchester City's trip to Brentford ahead of his expected departure.
City players were seen arriving in west London ahead of their Premier League clash.
Notably, Wantaway star Walker was not among the arrivals on Tuesday afternoon.
He said, 'I don't know. It depends on how we are going to train (the performance of the players in training). It depends on him.
“The transfer window will end when it ends (at the end of the month) and I don't know what's going to happen. I told him: 'Now it's a market question.'
Guardiola added that the player could continue playing for four more years. “He's an incredible player with an incredible physique,” he said. “When he is focused he is unstoppable as a right back. He is a top-level player, if he is fit he can play one, two, three or four more years as a professional.
“I have never seen a player with these physical conditions in my career, but he has to decide, not me. It is not my decision.”
Walker's prolific reputation as one of the world's best defenders has also continued to attract the interest of Saudi Arabian teams, with a host of big-spending teams, including Al Nassr, Al Ittihad and Al Ahli, all showing interest.
Walker could decide to follow his former City team-mate Riyad Mahrez to the oil-rich kingdom and there would be no shortage of suitors who could offer the veteran a huge salary as he enters the twilight years of his career.
However, it is understood that he is interested in staying in Europe to look after his family and save his marriage to Annie Kilner.
Mail Sport revealed on Monday that Walker had organized a “farewell party” for friends over the weekend, with his Manchester City career seemingly coming to an end.
Ilkay Gundogan had a smile on his face when he was spotted outside his hotel in west London.
The party, for close friends, took place at an as-yet undisclosed location. Walker is understood to have informed the club of his wish to leave on Thursday.
The news comes after Mail Online reported on Friday that Kilner is considering recovering from his impending £27million divorce and has moved the star back to the marital home.
The 33-year-old served Walker, 34, with divorce papers in October and kicked him out of the property after she discovered he had secretly fathered a second child with his ex Lauryn Goodman, 33.
Sources say Annie, who was pregnant with her fourth child when Lauryn dropped the bomb, is now reconsidering their split and is “quietly working on her relationship with Kyle behind the scenes.”
