Vintage Kevin De Bruyne! Manchester City star praised for 'world-class' assist against Brentford, as Belgian star lays it on a plate for Phil Foden

Kevin De Bruyne has been praised for turning back the years with a 'world class' assist for Phil Foden against Brentford.

The Belgian star put the ball on a plate for his team-mate with a stunning cross as the Englishman volleyed into the corner to put Manchester City 1-0 up on Tuesday night after 66 minutes.

Foden doubled City's lead 12 minutes later but they could not hold on after a late fightback from the hosts, with Yoane Wissa pulling one back before Christian Norgaard equalized in stoppage time.

De Bruyne remains a key part of Pep Guardiola's operation, but came into the game below Savinho and Bernardo Silva in the assists table this campaign.

If there was any doubt that he still has the visionary spark that has seen him achieve 257 assists at club level, he silenced the critics with the perfect strike from the right.

“That's world class from Foden and De Bruyne,” wrote one fan on X.

“That pass from De Bruyne to Foden reminded me of the good old days,” said another.

'Kevin De Bruyne is like Barcelona's Lamine Yamal. What a great thing to find Phil Foden,' wrote one.

“We shouldn't downplay Foden's shot, but De Bruyne's pass is crazy,” one intervened.
