One of the stars of a Disney Channel show says he is being harassed at his new job selling ice cream because he was previously arrested and convicted for interacting with a minor online.
Stoney Westmorelandwho played Grandpa in “Andi Mack,” went to court to get a restraining order against a former neighbor who keeps showing up at the Cold Stone Creamery where Westmoreland works.
In the documents, Westmoreland says the man told lies about him to the store owner and manager, approached Cold Stone customers and told them he was a “child rapist.” He says he is afraid of the man's actions, which intensified around the holidays.
Westmoreland says the guy showed up at the ice cream parlor and adjacent store on Dec. 21, 22, 26 and 27 – warning people about the “unregistered child offender” who worked at the store.
He says the man is telling “lies about me and my legal history” – but the documents don't make it clear which part Westmoreland considers a lie.
As we reported, he was arrested in Utah in 2018 and charged with online luring of a minor. Prosecutors said he arranged sex with someone he met online who he believed was 13 years old.
He eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser charge and was guilty sentenced to 2 years in prison. He's now traveling and working in LA, but says he's worried his alleged harasser might become violent – he claims the man was “shaking like he was going to freak out” when he showed up at the store.
Westmoreland is seeking a restraining order that would require the man to stay 50 meters away from his home and workplace and to stop all contact with Westmoreland or harassment.
The judge granted the TRO and scheduled a hearing in February for both sides to present their case.
