Thieves broke into the home of Pittsburgh Penguins alternate captain Evgeni Malkin and stole his three Stanley Cup championship rings, according to reporter Jennifer Borrasso of Pittsburgh's CBS station. KDKA.
The station reports that Malkin's home in the Pittsburgh suburb of Sewickley Heights was burglarized on Saturday and that all three rings are missing.
KDKA reports that the back door of Malkin's home was kicked in and that both the alarm system and security cameras were out of service at the time. Furthermore, his safe was kept open.
At the time of the robbery, the Penguins were playing a matinee game against the Ottawa Senators. A 911 call was made hours later.
Allegheny County Police confirmed to KDKA that they are investigating a robbery in the area. A spokesperson added that they are looking to speak to anyone who has more information about the situation.
