Let's talk about it! With Larry Saperstein and Jacob Bellotti
Betty White She may have been known as “America's Sweetheart,” but the Hollywood legend reportedly had a mean streak…according to her fellow actress Sally Struthers.
The “All in the Family” star took on the “Golden Girls” star during an appearance on the “Let's Talk About That” podcast, calling the late comedy legend a “very passive-aggressive woman.”
According to Sally, she had a less than pleasant encounter while working with Betty on a game show pilot.
The actresses met at BW's house to collaborate on the project… but things took an ugly turn when Betty “totally shamed” Sally in front of a room full of people.
She recalled… “I reached for a cookie and she said in front of everyone, 'Oh, I wouldn't do that if I were you, darling, you don't need a cookie.' … And I thought, 'My goodness, that's not nice.'”
However, the experience didn't scare her away from the rest of the Golden Girls cast… Sally praised Betty's co-star Bea Arthur as a “force of nature” after getting the chance to work with her on “All in the Family.”
Sally said she had never spoken about Betty before because she was well aware of how much everyone loved her enemy… but now that the TV personality is dead, she felt comfortable saying something.
Betty deceased in December 2021, just a few weeks before her 100th birthday. Many in Hollywood mourned her death and paid tribute to Betty on social media. However, it can be assumed that Sally was not one of the prominent mourners.
