The Philadelphia Eagles fan who was caught on video over the weekend calling a Packers fan a “stupid idiot” has finally broken his silence … claiming on Wednesday that his outburst was provoked.
Ryan Caldwell said in a statement to the New York Post The video that showed him tackling a Packer supporter during Sunday's playoff game at Lincoln Financial Field didn't tell the whole story.
What it's like to go to Philly and just try to cheer on your team…
Unprovoked, inappropriate. Packers tweet help me find this guy…this is not okay
I hate that this happened to my fiancée just because she was cheering for her team pic.twitter.com/aiHCKzxrSS

Caldwell insists that what happened just before his vulgar rant was a “joke” between all parties. He then strongly hinted at that Alexander Basara and his fiancée, Ally Kelleregged him on.
“There are two sides to every story,” Caldwell said. “The video clip circulating online does not reflect the full context of what happened and my actions were not without provocation.”
Nonetheless, Caldwell issued a serious mea culpa, admitting that his behavior was “unacceptable.”
“I want to sincerely apologize to Ms. Keller for those words,” Caldwell said, “and to my wife, my family and friends, my former employer and my colleagues, the Packer fans, the Eagle fans, the Philadelphia Eagles, the city of Philadelphia, and all who were offended.”
“I will live with this experience,” he continued, “and I will certainly pay a personal price.”
Caldwell has lost his job about the footage … and our Eagles sources told us Wednesday afternoon that he will also be banned from attending future events at Lincoln Financial Field.
Basara has been all but silent on the radio since Monday, although when he revealed the footage of the incident he was adamant that Caldwell's actions were “unprovoked.”
