EXCLUSIVE: Celtic consider signing Spanish winger for £8.5m

  • Real Valladolid knows of Parkhead's interest in Raúl Moro but is still waiting for an offer
  • Ajax are yet to meet the La Liga side's asking price despite the former Spain Under-21 international being a priority signing.
  • The relegation-threatened team needs to sell the 22-year-old star to strengthen other areas of the team.

Celtic are weighing up a bid for Real Valladolid's sought-after winger Raul Moro, worth £8.5m.

Equally comfortable on both wings, Ajax have made the former Spanish Under-21 international a priority signing.

Despite manager Alex Kroes publicly confirming his interest in the 22-year-old earlier this week, the Dutch giants are yet to meet Real Valladolid's asking price.

Moro, the rising star of a club struggling to avoid relegation from La Liga, is likely to leave this month to fund the signings needed to strengthen other areas of the team.

Real Valladolid is aware of Celtic's interest in their prized asset, but has not yet received a financial proposal.

This week, Ajax's Kroes confirmed: 'We are interested in Raúl Moro, yes. Moro can play on both the left and right wing.'

Winger Raúl Moro, who can play on the right or left, is attracting interest from Celtic and Ajax.

Initially signed from Lazio on a one-year loan deal, Moro was given a permanent contract after helping Real Valladolid to promotion last season, and has scored four goals in 19 appearances so far this season.

In the market for a wide player, Celtic are also interested in Sarpsborg winger Sondre Orjasaeter.

Valued at £7million, the 21-year-old Norwegian has been widely scouted, with Fiorentina, Parma and Nice also credited with interest.

Brendan Rodgers is interested in strengthening his options in wide areas and allowing Honduran winger Luis Palma to go out on loan in search of first-team football.

Celtic are close to securing the return of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal and the arrival of another winger would leave the possibility of one more signing if Kyogo Furuhashi leaves this month.

The fan favorite, who turns 30 next week, is less interested in moving to Atlanta United than the MLS team pursuing him. The American club are now looking at other options including Middlesbrough's Emmanuel Latte Lath, former Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard and Newcastle's Miguel Almirón.

It remains to be seen whether Tierney's return will come this month or in the summer, but the 27-year-old is close to agreeing a pre-contract agreement with his boyhood club.

As the left-back enters the final six months of his Gunners contract, worth £3m in wages, Celtic have yet to decide whether they will pursue a loan deal at the end of the window if the Italian club confirms his interest in Alex Valle.
