Angel Reese made her long-awaited return to the basketball court on Friday night, but fans who tuned in to watch the release of Unrivaled were not impressed by her premiere night outfit.
The 3×3 league began in Miami with Reese playing the last game with his new team, Rose Basketball Club.
The venue, Wayfair Arena in Miami, had a runway for players to show off their game-day outfits, and Reese arrived in style on opening night.
“I'm wearing Pucci, I'm wearing Chanel, I'm wearing diamonds,” she can be heard saying after someone asked her what she was wearing.
But fans on social media were less than impressed, with some accusing her of trying too hard to fill the void left by Caitlin Clark after she opted not to compete in the event.
“Main character goes crazy syndrome,” one fan said in response to the images.
Reese's appearance on Friday marked his return to basketball since undergoing wrist surgery.
Another wrote: “She thinks she's the main character, but she's an NPC (non-player character) in the grand scheme.”
A different fan mocked Reese's outfit after she said in October that she didn't make enough money to pay her $8,000-a-month rent in Chicago.
'Didn't he complain about not being able to pay the rent? It's probably sponsored here, but it doesn't matter,” another fan said.
Some fans appreciated Reese's look, with one writing: 'Diamonds are a girl's best friend!'
Another positive response said: “Gives 50s glamour, I like it.”
Friday night's appearance marks the first time Reese has been on the court since her rookie WNBA season with the Chicago Sky ended early due to her wrist injury.
He needed surgery and during his absence, Sky failed to make the playoffs.
